Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary :

Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary is 32 km from the city and located on the Jaisalmer road. The lush foliage of woods on the Jaisalmer road are home to nilgai, chinkara, black buck, wild boar and flocks of imperial sand grouse. Gajner Palace, a summer resort of kings built on the beautiful lake along the sanctuary, is a spot worth visiting. It is also a popular picnic spot.

Camel Breeding Farm :

Camel Breeding Farm is 10 kms away from the city and probably the only one of its kind in Asia where you can spend a day with the indispensable ship of the desert. The farm extends over 2000 acres of semi arid land and is managed by the Central Government. The Camel Corps of Bikaner were a famous fighting force during the ‘Raj’ and are still an important part of the desert warfare and defence through the Border Security Force(BSF). There are hundreds of camels here and it's a great sight in late afternoon as the camels come back after grazing. The farm is open Monday to Friday and every second Saturday from 3 to 5 pm.

Devi Kund :

Devi Kund Sagar is situated 8 kms east of Bikaner. This is the royal crematorium with several ornamented cenotaphs or 'chhartis’ built in the memory of the Bika dynasty rulers. The chhatri of Maharaja Surat Singh is most imposing, created entirely in white marble with spectacular Rajput paintings on the ceilings.

Deshnok's Karni Mata Temple :

Deshnok’s Karni Mata Temple is 30 km from Bikaner. The famous 600 years old temple on the Jodhpur road dedicated to Karni Mata, an incarnation of Goddess Durga. The temple has huge intricately carved silver gates which were donated by Maharaja Ganga Singh. The entrance archway of the temple is intricately carved in marble. The most interesting thing about the temple are the rats who scamper freely within the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. They are regarded as sacred and are fed by priests and devotees owing to the belief that they will be reincarnated as holy men.

Kalibanga :

Kalibanga is 205km from Bikaner. Kalibanga is one of the major excavation sites of the Harappan civilisation. This place houses emence treasure of our past and is of particular interest to archaeology enthusiasts.

Kolayat :

Kolayat is about 50km from Bikaner. Kolayat is a sacred spot, dedicated to Kapil Muni. The temple is the venue for an annual fair held in the month of Kartik (Oct.-Nov.) when thousands of devotees gather in large number to take a sacred dip in the holy waters of the Kolayat lake on the full moon day. Kolayat is an idyllic picnic spot as well.
